Purpose: Preservation of documents, posters, and photos (mostly school and community related) Taking photos of school and community events, using them to create both a digital and physical archive. Creating manuals, and teaching members how to properly archive, and just provide more education on the topic. Creating a centralized digital hub/archive for all school related photos for easier access (which will be made available to students and staff upon request). Encourage students to learn history through preserved documents and public archives. Help students get library cards, access to library archives in the areas, and access to reading rooms. Teach students how to legally obtain reproductions from official sources, and the logistics of archival. Optionally we would like to have some sort of annual anthology if members want to participate. Initially all scanning and printing will be done primarily through Jersey City Public Library services and private devices. We may be able to get access to a private scanner as well to use instead.
